Walgreens 101

I've had some questions recently about how the Walgreens Register Rewards program works.  As you prepare for your first RR trip, I've compiled some things to keep in mind.  First, remember that everyone makes mistakes and using RRs is a learning curve.  You'll get it.  Don't worry!

  1. A Register Reward is a catalina that prints after you pay for your purchase that you can use on future purchases.
  2. You receive a Register Reward catalina for each item that generates one on a separate piece of paper.
  3. Register Rewards expire 2 weeks after they print, so you plan to use them either the same week or on the next week's sales.
  4. If you use a Register Reward produced by a particular product on a future purchase of the same product, another Register Reward will usually NOT print.  On the rare exceptions to this, the Register Reward is said to be "Rolling".
  5. You can use Manufacturer and Walgreens coupons along with Register Rewards in any Walgreens transaction.  Register Rewards count as manufacturer coupons in your coupon count.  You may only use one manufacturer coupon or Register Reward catalina per item purchased.  In other words, if you have 5 items in a transaction, you may only use 5 total manufacturer coupons OR Register Rewards, however you want to combine them.  Walgreens Coupons should not count toward the coupon count but to ensure that they don't they should be submitted after all manufacturer coupons and Register Rewards.
  6. Your transaction total must be positive after all coupons and Register Rewards are used.  "Fillers" are small items included in a transaction to either allow for additional coupons to be used (increase item count so the coupon count can be increased) or to add pennies to the purchase so that Register Rewards can be redeemed.  If your purchase totals $0.99 before tax and you want to use a $1 Register Reward, you will need to add a small filler so that your transaction total positive.
More to come!  Post your questions so I know what needs to be clarified!!
